DNS is normally used, in order to determine to a name the associated (n) IP address (n). In some cases also the reverse dissolution is necessary. The IP address is well-known, but not the name.
To the Reversen dissolution PTR resource record (pointer resource record) is necessary. PTR resource record may appear only in in-addr.arpa-Domain (for the Reverse Lookup of IPv4-Adressen) and/or ip6.int and ip6.arpa (for the Reverse Lookup of IPv6-Adressen).
1.0.0.10.in addr.arpa. 3600 IN PTR test.example.com.
In this example became a Client, which asks a DNS server for the IP address 10.0.0.1, when test.example.com receive answer.
1.0.0.0 .0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.8.b.d.0.1.0.0.2.ip6.arpa. 3600 IN PTR test-ipv6.example.com.
In this example a Client became, that after the IPv6-Adresse 2001: db8:: 1 asks, when test-ipv6.example.com receive answer.
