Paul Mockapetris sketched the Domain Name System (DNS) to 1983, whose fundamentals are fixed in the RFCs 882 and 883. It ensured thereby for the separation of the error-prone host file on individual systems by a distributed and dynamic system, which makes comfortable handling possible Internet addresses, which today is still used.
