Nameprep is a coding procedure for the normalization of domain names. Capital letters to small letters and that are converted "“ss"” as equivalent fixed "“ss"” too "“ss"” (from road for example road becomes). While the introduction was only introduced by Punycode (transformation of non-ASCII characters in Umlautdomains) (1. March 2004), took place the normalization from capital letters for a long time. Therefore it unimportant also whether into URL took place the use from capital letters or whether it was generally smallwritten.

With IDNA domains afterwards still another conversion of the university code URL takes place with the help of the Punycode procedure into a so-called ACE stringer (ASCII Compatible Encoding).
