IAHC (Internet Ad Hoc Commission) was one of the first organizations, which thought over Internet and the assignment of Domain names.

Result of the work

The result of the work was a "“memorandum OF Understanding"”.

It describes a procedure for the assignment and administration of Domain names. In particular to the assignment of Toplevel Domain names. "“Gene Eric the Top level Domain memorandum OF Understanding"” can be signed by everyone and each organization. This Momorandum was signed up to now by approximately 226 organizations.

The organization became at the 1. Mail 1997 dissolved.

Today organizations took over this task like the POC and/or ICANN.
